I am addicted to POT.

February 8, 2007 – 11:56 am

I haven’t tried it in the past enough to get really hooked, but I started about to weeks ago and it has really help with all that is going on around here. Right before going to bed I found myself planning when and how I was going to do it today. I like to do it when the kids are napping and have sometime to throw it all together.

It has been so handy….. Like when I was stressing about feeding the missionaries. Or right before church starts so I can relax and not worry. I am finding I use my time so much better when I am using it.

A week ago I did some Flank stake and made fajitas, and then some barbequed pork ribs, and then this week we are trying some corned beef. I always have left overs that are great for sandwhiches for the Band. I just never knew how addictive this Crock-Pot thing could be.The entire family seems supportive of my new habit. I am going to start doing stews. I am a regular Susie homemaker.

Do you do pot as much as I do these days? Do you have some really good recipes? Am I the only one that get’s all goose bumpy at just the thought of Crock-pot liners? Or frozen prepared crock-pot meals already to go just plop them in the POT?? I am shocked at how anti-pot I was just a month ago. Times are a changing, and I am finally seeing the light. I wish I could say I am only using for "madicinal purposes" but that would be a flat out lie.

  2. I have a killer stew recipe I love and between my crock pot and bread machine I’m loving life.

  3. Pizza potatoes. wash, peel, and cut up potatoes, add pizza sauce to coat, and throw in pepperoni, or sausage, whatever you like on pizza, and mozzarella cheese. Crock pot for several hours until potatoes are done. Kids love it! My husband totally digs it.

  4. Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am a pot-a-holic. I am addicted to my crock pot, so much that I have three of them. I use them for at least three meals a week. Silly me, I haven’t invested in the liners yet. I just put it on my list. My kids new favorite thing is a whole chicken sprinkled with Lawry’s seasoned salt and drizzled with some olive oil. Put it in the pot and add about 1/2 cup water. Cook on low all day. We will eat some of it for dinner and pull the rest of the meat off and use it in enchiladas or something equally as wonderful. If you can find it, I highly recommend the “Fix it and Forget It” cookbooks.

  6. Bahahaaa! This was sooo clever. And while reading the first two paragraphs, I didn’t even see the pic beneath the post, so I was, like, “Wow, she’s sure an open person.” LOL What a funny idea to post!

Sorry, but I am poor at crocking, so I have no cool recipes…so I’ll just visit back later and check out these comments for them.

    hehe.
Here I am commenting at yours and you were over at mine…I feel a twilight zone show coming on…

    Pot is good.

    One chuck roast
    One can cream of mushroom
    One can cream of chicken
    One packet onion soup mix
    Sack of baby carrots
    Let ‘crock’ all day.
(Mr. Coffee doesn’t like shrooms, but he never complains on this one)

Don’t add water, just let cook and you will LOVE the gravy that this one makes. I have never had a recipe like this and I first thought, oh, it’ll be okay. No, not okay FABULOUS. Really.

  9. I do one similar to emmasometimes. I use chunks of chuck, browned just a little, one can COM, Packet Onion soup mix, pack of baby carrots, some sliced up ’shrooms, and about 1/2 cup of red wine. You like pot, I like wine. *shrug* And if you’d like me to expound on why I don’t think cooking with wine is against the WOW, I’ll be happy to do that for you sometime! LOL
