Plop PLop fizz! Fizz! Oh what a relief it is!!
June 20, 2006 – 9:41 amI have noticed an extreme decline in visitors to the bloggy lately. This month has been pretty low on the stat counter of how many hits I have gotten.
Weird thing is I am liking it. It is allowing me some space to start letting go and really write about what is going on and not what I think will be a "good post". In other words this blog is changing to be all about what I want to write about and not what I think will be "cool". I have recently lost that flavor that I call my own in my writing. I have so much going on right now and I would like to preserve it for myself and my family.
The really fun thing is I get to read and comment on other’s blogs. It is like having the best of both worlds. I had thought of just creating a new blog and writing the things I felt deeply about and be excited that no one read it. Then it could just be for me.
Now that I am skimming down on the readers I can loosen up and just start writing with my gut. So here I go…… ready or not.

i think finding your true self in writing is great- the audeince does in some ways change it– but i wanted to say i think the decline is a summer thing i know i have been mighty scarce lately– to many trips to swim lessons

I’m not sure, but maybe it’s just because a lot of people are using bloglines and other aggregators. I don’t comment on every single post of every blog I read, but I do read every post.
I’m definitely for the randomness of your life, because while well thought out posts are great once in awhile, your true self comes out in just every day stuff.

Yay! I agree with you 100%. It’s that refining process and I am going through it too.
I am also looking at my “commenting for popularity” tendencies. Maybe youv’e never done it… but it’s the “commenting so they will come visit me,” comment. That’s a sucky reason to leave a comment in my book, and sometimes I don’e leave comments just because I’m unsure of my motives. It’s tough because it’s also mixed in with a genuine desire to reach out to great bloggers and great posts. Plus also there is the “I have something witty to say in response,” and “I want to just show my support,” motives. I have to be on my toes all the time.

I admire you, Jen. See, I write from my heart, but there are places on my website that I bury the really good stuff. It was quite alarming when I realized that my ex-husband reads my blog religiously. That kinda put a damper on what I was willing to risk putting out to the world.
