I caught the P. and P. Bug!!
May 17, 2006 – 5:12 pmWhy do I have to wait to read my beloved book I recieved in the mail a couple of days ago? What book you ask….. why it is the complete Jane Austen collection.
You see I watched a certain movie called Pride and Prejudice two weeks ago. Since then have seen it another time followed by the four hour or so version done by A&E. Now I am reading chapter 13 of the book and I am anxious to finish.
I am really obsessed. When I said something about the movies to my friend she flipped and said she had totally read the book in two days!!And wants to watch this "four hour version".( It may be longer it wasn’t long enough though!!) I giggled. What is it about this book??? It is OLD, like really old. And still wildly popular.

Isn’t it great? I love her books. Last one I read was Emma. Read it during middle of the night feedings. Sometimes I’d forget to head back to bed!

AAAhhhh! I love me some Jane Austen… I read everything periodically… but I’m with that character played by Meg Ryan in “You’ve Got Mail,” I like to read it (P & P)at least once a year. And I have, with the notable exception of the year 1998 which was spent serving a mission. But I read it three times the year I got back so that kinda makes up for it.
I love the looong BBC version, and now this new one does it up right proper as well. I envy you, on your inaugural reading of the ol’ P&P.

Oh, Im such a Jane Austen fan. My vocabulary also gets a boost when I read her works…although, my books aren’t in a collection or matchy-matchy. ~sulking~
As for movies:
Emma with Gwyneth is really good.
Emma with Kate Beckinsdale is even better.
Persuasion is my all time favorite.
Mansfield Park was terrible and much different from the book.
Sense and Sensibility is fabulous.
P & P with Colin Firth is equally fabulous.
P & P with Kiera Knightly is I think closer to the book’s characters. Although, Kiera’s eyebrows are so botoxed and I want to hold the girl down and force feed her a cheeseburger.

I didn’t really “get” the book in high school, but after I saw the A&E version I was hooked! I didn’t get into the new one though. It moved way too fast for me. And the line “You have bewitched me body and soul” was too cheesy for words.
Great book though!
