SO WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE…..
April 22, 2006 – 12:09 amLet’s talk about comments people. A throughout blogdome there are posts about comments.
Who’s got um who doesn’t is another post for another day….. I want to confess…. I don’t always comment every visit I make to blogs (gasp!!) there I have come clean.
Here are my excuses.
1. I don’t read good. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. This is almost all the time true and so I read and reread things. So If I read you bloggy, and then come back later and read again. You would be surprised how often I come back to re-read. If this annoys you sorry! You can comment on my blog and I will remove you from the Obsessively checking your bloggy list.
2. Out of spite. If your comments exceed 35 generally you won’t hear from me #36. You have alot of work to do reading all your comments and what I have to say is really probably not worth your time. ( Wowsers Kind of bitter?? JD? Could be!)
3. Already commented and showing your post to my Band.
4. Diaper change, Kid screaming, mail’s hear, TV show is on…. any number of distracitons that take me away from your blog.
5. I read some funny things and some not so funny things. I love looking on the bright side of life so when there is a serious post I shy away, due to my "Oh I can fix-it" nature. I am working really hard on not being judgemental and harder at fixing my issues, not everyone elses.
***Tearing up now****
I would be crushed if I have left anyone a comment that hurt them at all. If I have done this already, I am pleading for your forgiveness. I am so impressed with those that are brave enough to post about their tender and close to their hearts struggles for all the world to see. You are my hero’s and I hate it when I get the wrong kind of unsolicited advice. I wouldn’t want to do that to you.
So what are your excuses?? You got any really good ones?? Some not so good ones but you use them anyways??

My excuse, sometimes my brain is tired and overworked and I really can’t think of anything clever or cute to say, not that those are requirements of posting. Or sometimes I just like to lurk. Nothing really profound, just the truth.
It is so true though, about life taking you away from your blog. Once, I was distracted by my kids, and thanks to DSL I left someones blog open for almost two hours. Whoops. Sorry to whoever it was, I am really not stalking you.

I don’t always comment either. Sometimes I have nothing to add to the conversation. Sometimes I don’t know what to say. Sometimes I just don’t have much time.
By Rachelle on Apr 21, 2006
Not much to add because I can relate to all of yours.:)
By Carrie on Apr 22, 2006
Sometimes I like to read and then think about it, and then comment. Sometimes I don’t feel qualified to offer advice or suggestions, if that’s what the post is asking for. Sometimes my husband comes in the room and to avoid him giving me a hard time about being on the computer AGAIN, I have to close up shop quick and look like I am actively engaged in something else!
By Gabriela on Apr 22, 2006
LOL @ Gabriela! Me too! I really don’t mind lurkers, and I don’t think much about lurking…if I have something to add, I do it, if I can’t post something meaningful, then I don’t bother. I’m super new at this so, I’m making a very concerted effort to put myself out there and get to know a few people so I don’t feel like “the new kid”. I love getting feedback in my blog, so I’m sure it’s a boost to others too. This is just so much bigger and more random than the message board I belong to, it’s strange, but a nice change of pace.
By momofalltrades on Apr 22, 2006
SHUT UP! NO WAY! (hehehe) You don’t always comment? Oh, the horror! Okay, here is my idee on comments. If someone comments it’s nice to acknowledge them back. That is my THEORY and would not complain about missing my 36th comment. I remember when no one read my blog except for one person (hi hubby!)
My reasons are all 62 of them. That’s blogs I visit on a regular basis because, I like them and whether or not they comment back, I will still read them, it just takes me two days to get through my list.
Then you add real life (school, running hubby’s business, four children, carpooling, runny noses, dinner, laundry, gardner, doctor, lawyer, Indian Chief… that means I get to visit my favorite blogs about twice a week.

If you didn’t catch it first time around….I LIKE your blog and would comment regardless. You have never hurt my feelings and I understand the wanting to help other blog buds. Besides, shutupnoway is a hilarious blog name and anyone who can quote Shanghi Noon is good in my book.
By emma sometimes on Apr 22, 2006
I many times do not comment simply for the reason that I do not have anything to say. That, plus the fact that I’m a very slow typer. Love your blog, though!
By ken on Apr 22, 2006
The times I don’t comment are those times that I am in a hurry. To comment takes time and I want to get to everyone’s blog and see how they are doing. I would miss out on someone if I took the time to always comment.
And then there are the times I really have nothing to say. *GASP* I know, I know… hard to believe. But yes, I do have those brief moments now and then.
JD, you know you are welcome to “my quiet corner” whether you comment or not, whether you return 200 times to the same post or not. You make yourself right at home any ol’ time… as much as you want! Of course I love hearing from people… but it’s not a requirment at “my quiet corner”! Sometimes, people are “quiet” for a reason!! Just come on over and relax!!!
By momrn2 on Apr 22, 2006
I second all you said. Sometimes I just don’t have anything to say and I don’t want to be one of those people that just says “Great Post!” and be on my way. I want to say something that will make them feel special for posting and if I can’t do that…then I read and move on. I hope that doesn’t sound crappy of me….
By Queen Beth on Apr 22, 2006
my #1 excuse is if i have a bad headache; i just want to read, and commenting takes too much effort.
plus it’s hard to come up with something intelligent (or coherent) to say.
By emily on Apr 22, 2006
I don’t always comment just because I don’t have time and/or I really have nothing to say. I love when folks leave me comments… but I know for a FACT that I have at least eight readers who keep up with my blog and have not ever once left a comment. These are relatives and people that I know to one extent or another in RL and they give me feedback personally. There is one woman who works with my husband and she is struggling with her first pregnancy (erm, who DOESN”T), I don’t know her terribly well, but she connects with the bloggy and I say “Power to the People!”
I have upon occasion had something to say either to a blogger I did not know well (ie. have read them for a few weeks) and had something of a serious nature to share. Like things to do with death, loss, abuse… I don’t care to make some things I have to say open to all their readers or I want to make sure what I say is not misconstrued.
There is a blog that I love to read that has turned off her comments, she mentioned a few reasons but for the most part they were being too distracting. She left her email up, so you could still contact her. Some days I consider doing the same. I would miss the hilarious/isightful things that are said though, so I have not and may not ever do it.
By bon on Apr 22, 2006
sometimes I don’t leave comments just because of the “number” factor as well…but when I read that Amalah quit her job?.. I hadda say “YOU GO GIRL!”
By bon on Apr 22, 2006
I read/skim so many blogs that I feel overwhelmed with the thought of posting comments often. I also don’t want to comment if I don’t have anything new to add….um…I’ll stop now.
By Kathryn, dym on Apr 23, 2006
#15 here - I sometimes don’t comment b/c I don’t have a blog but I like to read blogs so I don’t want people to think I’m reading their mail or something with nothing to contribute back to the blogworld. But I really like your blog.
By Liz on Apr 25, 2006
Ditto . . . still love your blog and visit regularly. Usually only comment if I’ve got something new to say.
By peach on Apr 26, 2006
I read your blog but don’t comment often. I don’t mind when people read mine and remain silent either. If something I say helps someone or makes them laugh, that’s great. I don’t always need to have something to say on someone else’s. Other people comment far more eloquently than I do, so they usually say what I would have said.
That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it!

Sometimes I can’t leave a comment because I have to change my own diaper, but I really shouldn’t admit to that. Big lunch! Gotta go!
